Position Description

The Director of Affiliates and Programs is responsible for all functions that contribute to providing technical support to establish and/or strengthen affiliate chapters.  The Director of Affiliates and Programs will also be responsible for oversight and implementation of NAMI Ohio’s education programs and support group facilitation initiatives statewide, developing and presenting customized training modules for a variety of audiences.

This position will be responsible for the coordination of activities related to NAMI programs including the coordination of teacher/facilitator certification trainings for members of local affiliates offering NAMI programs.  In addition, the Director of Affiliates and Programs is responsible for data collection, grant writing, reporting and liaison functions as required by funders, partners and stakeholders both local and national.  This position reports to the Executive Director.

Specific Duties of the Director of Affiliates and Programs include:

  1. Implementation of the following NAMI education programs: Family-to-Family (F2F), NAMI Connection Consumer Support Groups (Connection), Caregiver Support Groups, Basics, Peer to Peer (P2), In Our Own Voice (IOOV), and Provider Education.  Duties are as follows:
    • Coordinate the Connection Consumer Support Group Facilitator Trainings and providing technical assistance to the consumer trainers during the session.
    • Maintain current teacher and support group facilitator databases.
    • Track outcomes data through pre-tests, post-tests and detailed evaluations as required by each program.
    • Provide technical assistance to affiliates and individuals offering NAMI programs across Ohio.
    • Act as a liaison between NAMI Ohio and grant funders.
    • Complete all grant proposals and meet all program reporting requirements in a timely fashion maintaining records and meeting program standards as outlined in the grant proposals and contracts.
  1. Lead on CIT collaboration efforts and programming in conjunction with our partner agency.
  2. Maintain a membership database to ensure that memberships are properly processed and updated.
  3. Respond to all incoming Project related phone calls and e-mail enquiries.
  4. Assist in editing and preparing correspondence, educational and training materials, and other written project materials as needed.
  5. Maintain communication between local affiliates, state office and national office regarding membership and affiliate operations.
  6. Produce and maintain a directory of affiliates with appropriate contact information for referral purposes.
  7. Staff any NAMI Ohio Board of Directors committee or special work group that relates to membership and/or affiliate support.
  8. Provide affiliates with technical assistance to strengthen local outreach efforts, increase membership recruitment and retention and provide affiliate support as needed and/or as requested.
  9. Respond to requests for establishing new NAMI affiliate chapters by meeting with local interested individuals, community partners and other potential supporters to identify local needs/priorities and develop a work plan for implementation.
  10. In conjunction with other NAMI Ohio efforts and staff, provide guidance and information to existing affiliates so that a more visible, effective local presence may be established. Examples include media releases, sample newsletter articles, grassroots advocacy guidance, etc.
  11. Encourage mentoring and information exchange among affiliates through efforts that increase interaction, such as regional meetings, e-networking and/or publication of resources for local affiliate use.
  12. Report any concerns regarding either membership or affiliate chapters to the Executive Director for discussion and advice so as to avoid or reduce any potential negative impact.
  13. Perform all other duties as assigned by the Executive Director or Director of Operations.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, and at least 5 years of experience in a related field; master’s degree preferred.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, and willingness to consult with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated understanding of knowledge management principles and capacity to deliver management and/or organizational learning activities.
  • Excellent facilitation, program/activity management, and written and oral communication skills.
  • Creative problem-solving and ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Proven ability to lead project teams and deliver impact, with minimal supervision in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
  • High level of competency in learning management software/platforms, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and can be detail oriented while holding the larger strategy.
  • Models curiosity, flexibility, integrity and commitment to the NAMI mission, vision and values.
