NAMI Ohio Position Statement on Assisted Outpatient Treatment - On December 1, NAMI Ohio’s Board of Directors adopted a position statement on Assisted Outpatient Treatment (AOT). In essence, it states that NAMI Ohio supports H.B. 299 sponsored by Representative Tom Patton (R-Strongsville) which establishes AOT provided that the bill is adequately funded, does not diminish services for others being served in the mental health system, and protects the rights of those it is designed to help. A list of recommended changes is included in the position statement which we believe will address these concerns and improve the overall bill. Children's Rights: The Rights of Children and Their Families Who Need or Are Receiving Community Services - This guide provides useful information about the rights of children in Ohio's major child-serving governmental service systems - mental health, substance abuse and addiction treatment, education, child welfare, MRDD, and juvenile court's unruly and delinquent youth services. The intent of the Children's Rights guide is to clarify the role of parents, guardians, and custodians and help them better understand their rights and their child's rights so they can advocate for these rights.
